Your Role as an SEN Teaching Assistant

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support individuals or small groups within a setting matched to your experience, following guidance from teachers and specialist staff.

• Reinforce classroom activities and use accessible resources to help pupils understand instructions.
• Encourage communication, participation and independence without completing tasks for pupils.
• Follow agreed approaches to emotional regulation, behaviour and transitions.
• Share observations so the school can monitor engagement and adapt support when needed.

What We Are Looking For in an SEN Teaching Assistant

• Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs in a relevant setting.
• An adaptable SEN Teaching Assistant with a patient approach and dependable attendance.
• Confidence working collaboratively and following individual support and safeguarding procedures.
• An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one, alongside satisfactory safeguarding checks.
