Accounts Assistant

£28,000–£30,000 per annum depending on experience | Full-time | Permanent | Office-based

Cosgrove & Cosgrove is looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our small finance team in Telford, supporting the day-to-day accounts across multiple businesses.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys keeping accurate records, resolving queries and taking ownership of their work. You should be confident completing bank reconciliations independently and managing a varied workload without constant supervision.

What you'll be doing

• Completing bank reconciliations independently across multiple accounts and investigating discrepancies.
• Maintaining purchase and sales ledgers, processing supplier invoices, and raising and processing sales invoices.
• Processing expenses and credit card transactions, matching receipts and following up missing information.
• Using Dext to support invoice and receipt processing.
• Carrying out bookkeeping and data entry, keeping QuickBooks Online records accurate and up to date.
• Preparing and posting journals, including payroll journals, and collating payroll information.
• Liaising with colleagues and suppliers to resolve queries.
• Supporting month-end tasks and the wider finance team.

What we're looking for

• At least two years' practical UK accounts or bookkeeping experience.
• The ability to complete bank reconciliations independently.
• Practical experience of purchase and sales ledgers, supplier invoices and expenses.
• Good Excel skills and practical experience using QuickBooks Online. Both are essential.
• Strong attention to detail, good organisation and the ability to prioritise your workload.
• A reliable commute to our Telford office for this fully office-based role.

Experience using Dext would be an advantage. An AAT qualification or progress towards one would be useful, but is not essential; practical experience and the ability to do the work are what matter.
