Are you an experienced billing professional ready to combine hands-on responsibility with the opportunity to support a small team? A well-established, market-leading organisation is seeking a Senior Billing Specialist to join its finance function on a permanent basis. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will play a key part in keeping billing accurate and on schedule, supporting colleagues and improving day-to-day processes. This opportunity could suit an experienced billing specialist with exposure to training, mentoring or coordinating colleagues, as well as someone already supervising a billing team.

Your new role

Reporting into senior finance leadership, you will take ownership of the end-to-end billing process while providing day-to-day supervision and support to a team of two. This is a hands-on position, combining billing delivery and query resolution with workload coordination, colleague support and practical process improvements.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Supervising, motivating and supporting the billing team on a day-to-day basis.
• Managing the end-to-end billing process to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Investigating and resolving billing queries and discrepancies.
• Reviewing existing processes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Monitoring billing performance, workload and service levels.
• Working closely with finance, operational and commercial stakeholders.
• Supporting month-end activities, reconciliations and reporting requirements.
• Introducing stronger controls and best practice procedures where required.
• Assisting with process documentation, system enhancements and change initiatives.
• Helping to reduce backlogs, improve accuracy and drive operational efficiencies.

What you'll need to succeed 

• Strong hands-on billing or invoicing experience, with a sound understanding of end-to-end billing processes in a high-volume transactional finance environment.
• Exposure to supervising or supporting colleagues, such as allocating workloads, training team members, mentoring, handling escalations or deputising for a team leader. You do not need to have held a formal supervisor title, but you should be ready to take on day-to-day responsibility for a small team.
• Experience identifying process improvements, strengthening controls and helping make billing more efficient and accurate.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships across finance, operational and commercial teams.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills and a practical approach to resolving queries and discrepancies.
• Good systems knowledge, including ERP systems and Excel.
• The ability to organise competing priorities, work independently and support colleagues in meeting deadlines.
