Registered Homecare Manager – Domiciliary Care

KCG Care (formerly Odara Care)

North Tyneside, North East

£33,000–£35,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications

40 hours per week | Full-time | Permanent

About the role

KCG Care is looking for an experienced, motivated and hands-on Registered Homecare Manager to lead our domiciliary care service in North Tyneside.

This is a varied role combining the responsibilities of a CQC Registered Manager with regular direct care delivery in the community.

We are looking for someone who enjoys leading a service but also values remaining connected to the people receiving care and the staff delivering it.

The successful candidate will work a 40-hour week, with their hours divided between management and administrative responsibilities and providing direct care to clients.

The balance between these duties will vary according to the needs of the service.

Working pattern

This is a 40-hour-per-week role, worked flexibly according to the needs of the service.

Your working pattern may include:

  • Weekdays
  • Early mornings
  • Evenings
  • Weekends
  • Management and administrative hours
  • Direct care shifts within the community

Direct care delivery forms a normal part of the position rather than being limited to emergency cover.

Where appropriate, some administrative duties may be completed remotely.

An additional £1.50 per hour weekend enhancement is paid for direct care-delivery hours worked on Saturdays and Sundays.

Your management responsibilities

As Registered Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and compliant day-to-day management of the North Tyneside service.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the CQC Registered Manager for the service
  • Maintaining appropriate standards of quality and regulatory compliance
  • Providing leadership and support to the care team
  • Promoting safe, compassionate and person-centred care
  • Monitoring the quality of care provided
  • Overseeing care plans, assessments and risk assessments
  • Supporting safeguarding processes and appropriate incident management
  • Managing complaints and concerns appropriately
  • Carrying out or overseeing audits and quality checks
  • Supporting staff supervision, development and performance
  • Ensuring staff remain appropriately trained and competent
  • Supporting client assessments and reviews
  • Maintaining appropriate service records
  • Liaising with clients, relatives, professionals and other stakeholders where required
  • Supporting the continued development of the service
  • Ensuring the service remains prepared for regulatory inspection

You will be supported by the wider KCG Care team while retaining responsibility and ownership for the effective management of your service.

Direct care delivery

A key part of this position is working directly with clients in their own homes.

You will work alongside members of the care team and provide person-centred care and support as part of your normal contracted hours.

Being involved in direct care also enables the Registered Manager to maintain a strong understanding of clients' needs and the quality of the service being provided.

Who we're looking for

Previous experience as a CQC Registered Manager within domiciliary care is highly desirable, although we are also open to experienced care professionals who have strong management skills and are ready to progress into Registered Manager status.

You may currently be working as a:

  • Registered Manager
  • Deputy Manager
  • Care Manager
  • Branch Manager
  • Care Coordinator
  • Senior Care professional with substantial leadership experience

We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Strong experience within adult social care
  • Experience within domiciliary care or homecare
  • Management or leadership experience
  • A good understanding of CQC requirements
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and person-centred care
  • Experience with care planning and risk assessment
  • Confidence managing and supporting care staff
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • The ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions
  • A practical and hands-on leadership style
  • Confidence providing direct personal care
  • Good IT and record-keeping skills
  • Flexibility around working patterns

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required due to the field-based nature of the role.

Qualifications

A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care, or equivalent qualification, is desirable.

Candidates who have the appropriate experience and management capability but have not yet completed Level 5 may be considered.

For the right candidate, KCG Care will fund and support completion of the Level 5 qualification.

Previous CQC Registered Manager experience is desirable, but candidates who can demonstrate that they are ready to take the next step into registration are also encouraged to apply.

What we offer

  • £33,000–£35,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications
  • £1.50 per hour additional weekend enhancement for direct care-delivery hours worked on Saturdays and Sundays
  • Performance-related bonus
  • 40-hour contracted working week
  • Paid annual leave
  • Workplace pension
  • Company mobile phone
  • Company laptop
  • Funded Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification where appropriate
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • Support from the wider KCG Care team
  • A varied role combining management responsibilities with direct client contact
  • Opportunity to develop and lead a local homecare service

About KCG Care
