Your New Role:

As a Sheet Metal Worker, you will be responsible for manufacturing and installing high-quality sheet metal components across a range of projects. This includes ventilation systems, furniture, and structural fittings within a shipbuilding environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling sheet metal components
  • Fabricating items such as lockers, cabinets, and ventilation systems
  • Using a variety of hand and power tools to complete precision work
  • Ensuring all work meets strict quality and safety standards
  • Working collaboratively within a team to deliver installations safely and efficiently
  • Maintaining compliance with SHE, COSHH, and other safety regulations

You'll be working across a variety of shift patterns including days, nights, or weekends, depending on operational requirements.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate strong technical expertise and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
Essential requirements:

  • A recognised Modern Apprenticeship, Trade Papers, or SVQ/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
    (Certificates must be provided at application stage)
  • Experience in Construction, Manufacturing, Marine, or Engineering Environments
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings accurately
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes and sheet metal work
  • Knowledge of safety standards including SHE, COSHH, and PUWER
  • High attention to detail and commitment to "right first time" quality


Desirable:

  • Experience in HVAC manufacturing/installation
  • Experience working at height or in confined spaces
  • Background within large-scale industrial or marine projects
