Human Resources Assistant
£25,000 - £27,000 per annum, Burgess Hill outskirts (own transport necessary), 37.5 hours Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00, Fixed Term Contract maternity cover, 20 days holiday plus bank holidays, benefits package

The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Human Resources Assistant to join a caring and values-led organisation on a fixed-term maternity cover basis (min 12 months). Reporting to the Human Resources Director and working closely with the HR Advisor, the Human Resources Assistant will provide a professional, efficient and customer-focused HR administration service, supporting the full employee lifecycle with a strong focus on recruitment and onboarding. This is a full-time, office-based role offering a varied workload where no two days are the same.

• Providing end-to-end recruitment administration, including managing applications, organising interviews and candidate communication
• Supporting safer recruitment practices in line with CQC requirements
• Preparing offer letters, contracts of employment and new starter documentation
• Processing DBS checks, right to work checks and pre-employment documentation
• Obtaining and reviewing employment references, escalating concerns where required
• Supporting induction processes alongside the HR Advisor
• Maintaining accurate and compliant employee records in line with GDPR requirements
• Supporting the transition from paper-based to digital HR records
• Preparing HR documentation including contractual changes, probation reviews and leaver administration
• Acting as a first point of contact for HR queries by phone and email

Requirements
The successful Human Resources Assistant will have previous experience in an HR or administration-based role, ideally with exposure to recruitment or employee lifecycle processes. You will be highly organised, detail-focused and comfortable handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Strong written and verbal communication skills and confidence using Microsoft Office applications are essential. A calm and methodical approach to managing a varied workload will be key. This role could suit someone who has worked as an HR Administrator, People Administrator or HR Support Officer.
