MacKenzie King is excited to be working with one of our long-standing clients to recruit an Accounts Assistant into their high achieving and success focused team. As Accounts Assistant the successful candidate will be responsible for the purchase ledgers of a number of the group's business as well as providing basic cover and support to the credit control team, answering queries and taking payments during busy periods and as cover for holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Purchase invoice input into in-house database and Sage system along with credit notes and staff expenses
  • Monitoring all email inboxes to ensure that any invoices/statements/queries are dealt with in a timely manner
  • Dealing with purchase invoice queries
  • Set-up and maintain supplier accounts
  • Preparation of monthly BACS payment runs and processing via the Bank
  • Daily Bank Reconciliations
  • Monthly Credit Card Reconciliations
  • Reconciliation of monthly supplier statements and follow up on missing invoices or queries
  • CIS Returns
  • Credit control holiday cover (Queries and taking payments)
  • Support the wider finance team with ad hoc duties as required

Essential skills and experience

  • Strong experience in a purchase ledger/accounts payable role
  • A strong knowledge of Office 365 (Microsoft Excel experience required)
  • Good working knowledge of accounting software - Sage 50 Business Cloud (preferred)
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Good organisational skills
  • Flexible approach with an ability to work as part of a team with a willingness to support colleagues
  • Reliable nature
  • Proactive and able to work independently
