Are you an experienced Purchase Ledger professional looking to join a fast-paced FMCG business where your work plays a key role in keeping operations running smoothly?
A well-established and growing food distribution and meat wholesale business based in Banbury (OX16) is looking to recruit a Purchase Ledger Assistant to join its busy finance team.
Operating within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, the business supplies a wide range of food products across the UK and forms part of a wider retail and distribution group. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a high-volume SME environment where accuracy, organisation, and strong supplier relationships are essential.
Key Responsibilities
As a Purchase Ledger Assistant, you will support the day-to-day accounts payable function and ensure supplier accounts are processed efficiently and accurately.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Processing high volumes of supplier invoices and credit notes
- Matching, batching and coding invoices within the purchase ledger system
- Reconciling supplier statements and investigating discrepancies
- Handling supplier queries and maintaining strong supplier relationships
- Supporting weekly and monthly payment runs
- Assisting with month-end finance processes and reporting
- Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation
- Liaising with internal departments including purchasing, operations and logistics
Experience & Skills
The ideal candidate will have experience within purchase ledger or accounts payable, ideally within a food distribution, FMCG, wholesale or logistics environment.
You should have:
- Previous experience in a Purchase Ledger / Accounts Payable role
- Experience working within a fast-paced SME or growing business
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to manage high volumes of financial transactions
- Good Excel and accounting system skills
- Strong communication skills when dealing with suppliers and internal teams
