Independent Stalking Advocate

Veritas Justice CIC

Veritas Justice CIC is a specialist stalking advocacy service, supporting individuals experiencing stalking whether the crime has been reported to the police or not.

We are seeking an Independent Stalking Advocate to join our team. This is a specialist role requiring the ability to understand behaviour over time, respond to evolving risk and support individuals navigating complex and often uncertain situations.

The focus of the role is to reduce the impact of stalking on individuals, supporting safety, stability and informed decision-making.

Please note that this post is open to women only (genuine occupational requirement: Equality Act 2010 applies).

What You Will Be Doing

As an independent stalking advocacy caseworker at Veritas Justice, you will be:

  • providing specialist advocacy to individuals experiencing stalking
  • identifying patterns of behaviour, including repetition and escalation where present
  • supporting safety planning and risk management
  • working with police and multi-agency partners
  • supporting individuals to navigate the criminal justice process where appropriate
  • managing a caseload in line with organisational policies and procedures

About You

We are looking for someone who can:

  • work with complexity and uncertainty
  • demonstrate strong professional judgement
  • provide support in emotionally challenging situations while maintaining clear professional boundaries
  • remain calm and focused when working with distress and risk
  • work independently and collaboratively within a multi-agency context

Experience in advocacy, safeguarding or a related role is essential.

An understanding of stalking, or a willingness to develop specialist knowledge in stalking, is essential to the role.

Transferable Skills and Experience

We recognise that relevant skills may have been developed in a range of roles and settings.

We welcome applications from individuals with transferable experience, including:

  • advocacy, support work or safeguarding roles
  • working with individuals experiencing distress, risk or vulnerability
  • roles involving complex decision-making or case management
  • experience of working within multi-agency or professional environments

We are particularly interested in how applicants apply their skills in practice, rather than specific job titles.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • ability to work with uncertainty and incomplete information
  • strong professional judgement and decision-making skills
  • ability to maintain clear professional boundaries while providing support
  • ability to provide support in emotionally challenging situations while maintaining clarity and focus
  • emotional resilience and ability to work with distressing situations
  • ability to recognise and respond to patterns of behaviour over time
  • strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multi-agency context
  • understanding of safeguarding principles and confidentiality
  • competence in case recording and use of IT systems

Desirable Criteria

  • knowledge or experience of working with individuals experiencing stalking
  • experience of advocacy or case management
  • understanding of the criminal justice system
  • experience of working within the VAWG or related sectors
  • knowledge of risk assessment and safety planning approaches

What Matters to Us

  • thoughtful and reflective practice
  • ability to remain calm, grounded and professional when working with distress and risk
  • ability to recognise patterns, not just individual incidents
  • commitment to safe, trauma-informed and person-centred practice

What We Offer

  • a supportive and reflective team environment
  • opportunities to develop specialist knowledge and skills
  • meaningful work with real impact

To apply for this role, you must complete the application form on our website. No other method will be accepted.
