Portfolio Procurement has been engaged by our leading South Yorkshire based client to recruit for a Purchasing Manager.


The role:

You will be responsible for managing both the current and future needs the Purchasing department.


You will be charged with:

  • Managing, supporting, and coaching of the team
  • Negotiation of all current and new purchasing contracts
  • Develop and maintain a supply base globally
  • Select new suppliers based on factors including cost and suitability/competence to supply
  • Re-tender of all current and new commodities
  • Align all material management processes


Skills and Experience

  • Previous Purchasing experience at a senior level to include a solid understanding of Steel, Fabrications and Machined commodities
  • Previous experience in managing a team
  • Ability to travel globally should the need arise
  • An understanding of lean manufacturing
