We are working with a global leader in claims management and loss adjusting services to identify an exceptional Major & Complex Loss (MCL) Adjuster. This is a high-profile appointment suited to a technically accomplished professional who thrives on handling large, complex, and high-value claims across a broad range of lines.
You will play a central role in managing significant losses from first instruction through to settlement, acting as a trusted partner to insurers, brokers and policyholders on some of the most demanding and reputationally sensitive cases in the market.
As a Major & Complex Loss Adjuster, you will take full ownership of a caseload of high-value and technically challenging claims. You will be expected to exercise sound judgement, deploy specialist expertise, and deliver outcomes that meet both commercial and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of major and complex losses from instruction through to resolution, including large property, liability, BI and catastrophe losses
  • Conduct thorough site investigations, assessments and cause-and-origin analysis across domestic, commercial and industrial risks
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, coverage opinions and quantum assessments for insurers and Lloyd's markets
  • Lead coverage analysis, policy interpretation and liability determination on complex, multi-party claims
  • Appoint, instruct and manage specialist third parties including forensic accountants, engineers, legal counsel and restoration contractors
  • Actively manage business interruption claims, including loss of profits, increased cost of working and contingent BI
  • Engage directly with senior stakeholders: insurers, brokers, risk managers, legal teams and C-suite representatives
  • Manage claims proactively to control indemnity spend, minimise lifecycle costs and achieve timely resolution
  • Support and mentor junior adjusters and contribute to technical best practice across the team
  • Maintain accurate claims records, financial reserves and diary management in line with client SLAs and regulatory requirements

Experience
  • Proven track record handling major and complex losses with values typically exceeding £500k
  • Deep technical knowledge across property (commercial and industrial), business interruption and/or liability lines
  • Experience adjusting for Lloyd's of London and/or London Market insurers
  • Strong coverage and policy interpretation skills across a wide range of wordings
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large, multi-stakeholder losses independently from cradle to grave
  • Excellent written communication skills, including technical report writing and reserve justification
  • Desirable Experience
  • Experience in catastrophe or large loss response environments
  • Exposure to construction, engineering, marine or specialist lines
  • Prior involvement in complex litigation support or arbitration
  • Experience leading or mentoring adjusting teams

Qualifications
  • ACII, FCII or equivalent insurance qualification (preferred)
  • FCILA or working towards Chartered Loss Adjuster status (desirable)
  • Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience
  • Full UK driving licence
