I am exclusively supporting a purpose-led organisation in Hertfordshire on the appointment of an Interim Financial Controller / Finance Manager to support the finance function during a key period of change and operational delivery.

This is a hands-on operational finance leadership role requiring someone who is comfortable working close to the detail, improving processes and leading from the front.

The successful individual will oversee:

• Month-end close and management reporting
• Financial controls and compliance
• VAT and cashflow management
• Budgeting and forecasting
• Audit preparation and statutory reporting support
• Transactional finance oversight
• Team leadership and stakeholder engagement
• Continuous improvement across finance processes and systems

The organisation is seeking a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) with previous experience operating within complex organisations and managing operational finance activities.

Grants/funding experience is essential for this role, alongside previous exposure within research, education, charity, public sector or similarly funded environments.

Candidates should demonstrate:

• Strong financial and management accounting capability
• Hands-on operational finance experience
• Strong controls and process improvement focus
• Previous team leadership experience
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills
• Advanced Excel and systems capability
