Location: Office-based (5 days per week)
Hours: 30 to 37.5 hours per week (flexible start and finish times)
Overview We are working with a growing, entrepreneurial business looking to appoint a hands-on Operations Lead to support the next stage of its development.
This is a pivotal role acting as the right-hand to the Director, taking ownership of day-to-day operations and ensuring the business runs efficiently in their absence. The position will suit someone who thrives in a small business environment and is comfortable being involved across multiple areas of the operation.
The Role You will oversee the day-to-day running of the business, managing a team of approximately 12 people across field-based and office-based functions, including sales support and warehouse operations.
This is a broad, hands-on role focused on bringing structure, accountability, and consistency, while ensuring the business continues to deliver against its targets.
Key Responsibilities - Oversee the day-to-day operations of the business, ensuring smooth coordination across all functions
- Manage and support a team of c.12 employees, including field-based teams, warehouse support, and sales administration
- Act as a key point of contact in the Director’s absence, ensuring continuity and decision-making
- Drive performance through the introduction and management of KPIs and reporting frameworks
- Improve systems, processes, and operational efficiency across the business
- Work closely with the sales team to maintain momentum, visibility, and delivery against targets
- Ensure clear communication and alignment between departments
- Identify operational gaps and implement practical solutions
- Lead regular meetings to track progress, accountability, and priorities
About You - Proven experience in a general management, operations, or senior leadership role
- Strong background in a sales-led or commercially driven environment
- Experience working within a small to medium-sized business, with a hands-on approach
- Confident managing both office-based and field-based teams
- Ability to implement structure, processes, and performance tracking
- Commercially aware with a focus on delivery and results
- Comfortable acting as a second-in-command to a business owner or director
- Strong communicator with the ability to hold people accountable and drive performance
Desirable (but not essential) - Experience within a product-based or project-led environment involving on-site delivery or installation-type services
- Exposure to businesses operating across sales, logistics, and operational delivery
Would suit someone that has had P&L responsibility and running an office selling a product driven service.
