Assistant Accountant

Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 (depending on experience)
Location: Outskirts of Sheffield (hybrid working – 2 days office / 3 days home)
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours

The Role: 

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join our growing finance team based on the outskirts of Sheffield. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with solid transactional accounting experience who is looking to broaden their exposure and progress within a supportive, well-structured finance function.

The role offers a hybrid working pattern (2 days in the office, 3 from home) after initial onboarding and will suit someone who enjoys a varied position covering both day-to-day finance and month-end support.

What you will be doing: 

• Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Completing bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Posting journals, accruals and prepayments
• Assisting with VAT returns
• Supporting year-end accounts and audit preparation

Desirable: 

• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role
• Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
• Experience using accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, SAP, Dynamics, or similar)
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail
• AAT Level 3
