Maintenance Technician

My client a well known manufacturing business based in West Yorkshire are looking to recruit a proactive Maintenance Technician to join a dynamic engineering team. This role is ideally suited to a hands-on professional with a strong mechanical background and a proven track record in both planned and reactive maintenance environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns, diagnose faults, and implement effective repairs to minimise downtime.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities in line with schedules and operational requirements.
  • Work extensively with mechanical systems including hydraulics, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, and drive systems.
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring faults and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and upgrades of machinery and equipment where required.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with health & safety standards at all times.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimise machine performance and reliability.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience working in a maintenance role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong expertise in hydraulics, gears, bearings, and general mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in both reactive (breakdown) and planned maintenance strategies.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible approach with a willingness to support shift patterns or on-call requirements if needed.
  • Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Basic electrical knowledge or multi-skilled capability.
