Service Charge Accountant

My client are seeking a Service Charge Accountant to join their finance team on a temporary basis. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in property accounting, specifically service charge accounting, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple stakeholder interactions effectively.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Prepare accruals, prepayments, and trial balances.
• Prepare annual leasehold and company accounts in accordance with ACCA and ICAEW guidelines.
• Liaise with external accountants and auditors during audit processes.
• Regularly communicate with clients and internal property management teams.
• Allocate costs and resolve financial queries.
• Manage year-end surplus/deficit adjustments to leaseholder accounts.
• Conduct bank reconciliations.
• Issue service charge and ground rent demands.
• Monitor accounts payable/receivable, including supplier invoices and incoming payments.
• Manage unpaid supplier invoices due to insufficient funds.
• Support credit control with arrears chasing.
• Prepare draft budgets, including 10-year plans, and process approved budgets.
• Process supplier invoices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Degree educated with a relevant professional qualification.
• Strong background in property and service charge accounting.
• Experience managing or working within a finance team.
• Strong technical and communication skills.
• Advanced MS Excel and Word skills.
• Familiarity with property accounting systems.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines with strong attention to detail.
