Greenwell Gleeson are recruiting for a large logistics business based near Birmingham Business Park to recruit an Assistant Accountant This role is an urgent requirement, therefore, the ideal candidate will be available to either start immediately or at short notice.

Hybrid working available once 6 month probation has passed, offering 2 days working from home. Study Support also available.

Reporting into the Finance Manager, duties will include:

To manage the overall general ledger including sales ledger, purchase ledger and cashbooks up to trial balance stage.
To manage key monthly control account reconciliations
To administer financial aspects of centrally held accounts
To ensure that credit control duties are carried out on a regular basis.
To administer the businesses expenses policy.
To assist with the preparation of accurate, timely, relevant management accounts
Preparation and reconciliation of schedules to post nominal ledger journals for accruals and prepayments
Reconciliation of VAT control accounts and investigate any discrepancies
Completion of quarterly VAT returns
Reconcile inter-company accounts monthly

Skills, Knowledge and Qualities:

Able to work well under pressure to high corporate standards
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Displays a positive attitude and a pro-active approach to problem solving
Systematic approach in following documented processes
Ability to foster good working relationships across departments and maintain discretion at all times
All round accounts experience in Sales/Purchase ledger and Credit Control
VAT accounting knowledge is essential for successful performance in this role
Experience of NetSuite accounting desirable but not essential
