Job description:
As a Development Technologist, you’ll play a key role in bringing new products to life — from early concept through to successful factory implementation. Working as part of a collaborative R&D team, you’ll support both new and existing product development across your category, helping to deliver high-quality, consumer-loved products that meet our business and technical standards.
You’ll work closely with Marketing, Operations, Procurement, and Technical teams, gaining hands-on exposure across pilot plant and factory trials, whilst developing your technical capability and understanding of ingredients, processes, and consumer trend
What you'll be doing?
- Delivering and supporting new product development projects from concept to launch
- Supporting pilot plant and factory trials, working closely with site operational and technical teams
- Representing Development as part of cross-functional project teams
- Creating and maintaining accurate development documentation and project records
- Monitoring food trends and consumer behaviours to inform product development
- Working with Insights and Sensory teams to build strong consumer understanding
- Developing knowledge of ingredients and supplier capabilities
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient project delivery
What we need from you?
- HNC, BTEC or equivalent in Food Science / Food Technology
- Intermediate Food Hygiene qualification
- 1–2 years’ experience in a product development environment (or similar)
- Strong organisation, communication and problem-solving skills
- A proactive, flexible approach and genuine passion for food development
- BSc in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline
- Practical knowledge of baking and ingredient functionality
- Experience with bakery products or similar categories
- Chef background considered for candidates with strong technical aptitude
