We are seeking a Revenue Controller to join our Finance Department, specifically within the Revenue and Billing team. This role is crucial for managing working capital, supporting Partners and lawyers to minimise debt, WIP, and exposure. You will provide leadership to Revenue Controllers and Billing Assistants, managing a complex portfolio and ensuring compliance with the firm's financial policies.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead regular review meetings with Partners and lawyers to discuss Debt, WIP, and client/matter balance issues, taking ownership of complex matters within your assigned areas.
  • Maintain oversight of data recorded on the Collections system for assigned clients and team portfolios, ensuring timely and accurate updates for effective tracking of outstanding invoices.
  • Work with the team to recommend and implement processes to ensure payments are received in line with agreed terms.
  • Negotiate with clients to agree on payment plans and liaise with the debt recovery team for legal action on unpaid bills as necessary.
  • Oversee the monthly billing and cash collection cycle, ensuring client-specific billing requirements are met and bills are submitted on time.
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex billing issues, supporting the testing and implementation of new billing processes and systems.
  • Provide day-to-day line management for Revenue Controllers and Billing Assistants, including work allocation, performance management, and training.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in revenue control, credit control, and cash collection within a professional services environment.
  • Experience managing complex client portfolios and stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrable experience in line managing or mentoring team members.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to deal confidently with senior management.
  • Legal or similar partnership experience is desirable.
  • Chartered Institute of Credit Management qualification is a plus.
