Chalk Hill Group is working exclusively with a leading, multi-entity services organisation to appoint a Finance Manager to join their head office team in Portsmouth.

This is a high-impact role within a growing group that values clarity, accountability, and commercial thinking. You will take responsibility for the day-to-day finance function across the group, ensuring strong financial control, reporting accuracy, and meaningful commercial insight.

For the right individual, there is a potential progression pathway towards Finance Director as the organisation continues to expand. There will be an expectation to be in the office five days a week.

Key responsibilities include:

• Production of timely and accurate monthly management accounts
• Full balance sheet ownership (accruals, prepayments, fixed assets)
• Cash flow forecasting and working capital management
• Credit control and debtor oversight
• Budgeting support and variance analysis as well as review of client and contract profitability
• Intercompany reconciliations and cross-charging
• VAT returns, payroll oversight, and statutory compliance
• Support for annual audit and external accountants
• Liaison with banks, HMRC, and finance providers
• Line management and development of one team member
• Continuous improvement of financial systems and processes

You will ideally have:

• Experience producing full monthly management accounts within an SME environment
• Strong ownership mentality with ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders
• Experience supervising or developing junior finance staff
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence with accounting systems (Xero preferred)
