We are currently recruiting for a Bereavement Services Administrator to join a professional, compassionate, and customer-focused team based in Reading. This is an office-based role providing essential administrative and customer support within a sensitive service area.

The Role

You will play a key role in ensuring burial, cremation, and memorial processes are carried out compliantly, accurately, and with sensitivity. The role requires excellent attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and the ability to manage confidential information in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure burial, cremation, and memorial applications comply with relevant legislation, handling discrepancies sensitively
  • Prepare and process all burial and cremation paperwork accurately and within tight timescales
  • Administer and process Book of Remembrance entries, memorial sales, and associated records
  • Check and process memorial mason licence applications in line with national standards and local memorial policy
  • Take bookings for services, memorials, and strewings using the booking system
  • Deliver excellent customer service to members of the public, funeral directors, and stakeholders
  • Process financial transactions including fees, cash handling, card payments, and banking in line with audit procedures
  • Provide research support to the public relating to grave records, burial dates, and historical information

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working within bereavement services or another sensitive customer-focused environment
  • Strong customer service experience requiring empathy, patience, and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven administrative experience with a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work to short deadlines in a busy office setting
  • Confident IT skills and experience using administrative systems
