Senior Transport Officer

£18.36 per hour

We are recruiting an experienced Senior Transport Officer for our client, we are looking for the ideal candidate to support a busy assisted transport service, arranging transport for vulnerable children and young people while managing key service contracts.

This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where you will be expected to hit the ground running, using your experience and initiative to manage routes, resolve issues, and support wider service delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing transport contracts, including procurement, route planning, retendering and cost negotiation
• Coordinating transport for SEN and social care users, ensuring safe and efficient service delivery
• Communicating with parents, operators and internal teams to resolve queries and issues
• Reviewing routes and identifying efficiencies and improvements
• Supporting and guiding transport officers within the team
• Maintaining accurate records, handling sensitive data and adhering to safeguarding and data protection requirements

We are looking for candidates with:

• Experience in SEN or social care transport
• Strong contract management and operational experience
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, professional emails
• High attention to detail, particularly when working with data and spreadsheets
• Good Microsoft Office skills, including Excel
• Ability to work independently, use initiative and manage a varied workload

The roles are offered on an initial 6-month basis, with potential for extension.

The team operates a flexible, predominantly remote working model, with office attendance required approximately once every two weeks. There is some flexibility around start times provided core hours are met, alongside a requirement to work an early start and a later finish once per week to support business needs, agreed within the team. Overtime is available during peak periods.
