We are seeking an experienced and driven Trusts Manager to lead and develop a high-performing Trusts and Foundations fundraising programme. This role is central to driving income growth through the cultivation of strong donor relationships, the development of compelling funding proposals, and the strategic management of a pipeline of trust and foundation supporters.

Key Responsibilities

Trusts & Foundations Fundraising

  • Lead on the development and delivery of the Trusts and Foundations programme
  • Manage a portfolio of existing donors, ensuring strong stewardship and retention
  • Identify, research, and develop new funding opportunities from trusts and foundations
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospects using CRM systems

Income Generation & Strategy

  • Deliver annual income targets and contribute to wider fundraising objectives
  • Grow income through new applications and increased contributions from existing funders
  • Develop strategies to build a consistent mid-level and high-value donor base
  • Monitor performance and report on income, applications, and pipeline activity

Proposal Writing & Applications

  • Develop high-quality, tailored funding proposals and applications
  • Create compelling cases for support aligned to funder priorities
  • Ensure all submissions are accurate, persuasive, and submitted in a timely manner

Donor Stewardship & Reporting

  • Create and implement bespoke stewardship plans for each funder
  • Provide detailed reports, updates, and impact summaries to donors
  • Maintain excellent relationships to encourage long-term partnerships

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., finance, communications, programme teams)
  • Work with senior leadership on strategic fundraising initiatives
  • Support events and engagement opportunities for Trusts and Foundations

Team Management

  • Line manage and support the development of the Trusts Executive
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and performance management as required

Systems & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records of all donor interactions and pipeline activity
  • Use CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) to track engagement and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with organisational policies and fundraising standards

Person Specification

  • Proven track record of securing significant funding from trusts and foundations
  • Strong experience in donor acquisition, prospect research, and pipeline development
  • Excellent written communication skills, with experience producing successful funding applications
  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to build long-term partnerships
  • Experience managing budgets and meeting financial targets
  • Proficient in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and MS Office
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proactive, collaborative, and results-driven approach
