Founding Quant / Platform Engineer

Role Summary

A unique opportunity to be one of the first engineers at a well-funded, early-stage startup building high-performance, real-time systems at the intersection of machine learning and complex data environments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design and build scalable, low-latency infrastructure from first principles
2. Develop systems for real-time data processing, streaming, and deployment
3. Own platform architecture across research, development, and production
4. Improve reliability, performance, and observability across the technology stack
5. Collaborate closely with a small, high-calibre team on core technical direction

Required Qualifications

1. Strong academic background in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field from a prestigious university
2. Strong software engineering fundamentals with distributed systems experience
3. Hands-on experience building and running production systems
4. Proficiency in at least one of: Python, C++, Go, or Rust
5. Experience with real-time data systems and streaming architectures
6. Experience in high-performance or data-intensive environments
7. High ownership mindset, comfortable in an early-stage startup environment

Preferred Qualifications

1. Low-latency systems or performance optimisation experience
2. Exposure to ML infrastructure or large-scale data pipelines
3. Background in startups or small, high-impact teams
