Technical Sales Engineer – Power Switching & Monitoring

The Opportunity

A leading organisation in the power and energy sector is seeking an experienced Technical Sales Engineer to support the growth of its Power Switching & Monitoring solutions across Ireland.

This is a customer-facing role combining technical expertise with commercial responsibility. The successful Technical Sales Engineer will work closely with customers, consultants, and internal teams to deliver tailored solutions, support major projects, and drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Sales & Business Development

  • Propose and develop technical solutions to meet specific customer requirements
  • Prepare and deliver detailed quotations, tenders, and technical documentation
  • Support sales growth through proactive customer engagement and opportunity development
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within target markets

Customer & Project Support

  • Provide technical support to customers and internal sales teams on complex projects
  • Attend customer meetings, delivering product updates, training, and technical presentations
  • Support project lifecycle activities including pre-sales, delivery, commissioning, and handover
  • Act as a technical expert in fault finding and system support

Tendering & Commercial Activity

  • Collaborate with internal teams to produce high-quality tender submissions
  • Attend pre- and post-tender meetings with customers and stakeholders
  • Follow up on quotations and support conversion to orders

Project Delivery

  • Attend pre-delivery project meetings with stakeholders
  • Support commissioning, training, and final handover at customer sites
  • Ensure solutions are delivered in line with customer expectations and specifications



Training & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Deliver training to internal teams, system integrators, and customers
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including consultants and end-users
  • Support knowledge sharing across technical and commercial teams

Market Development

  • Support specification activities with consultants and end-users
  • Contribute to the development of target markets such as utilities and system integrators
  • Provide feedback on customer requirements, competitor activity, and market trends

Key Relationships

  • External: Consultants, system integrators, OEMs, distributors, panel builders, and end-users
  • Internal: Sales teams, technical specialists, applications engineers, and service teams

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Achieve sales targets within the assigned customer portfolio
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of new business opportunities
  • Deliver high levels of customer engagement and account activity
  • Maintain accurate reporting and forecasting

Requirements

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Technical Sales Engineer or in a similar technical sales role
  • Background in electrical engineering, power systems, or energy solutions
  • Experience supporting projects, tenders, and customer-facing technical activities

Education

  • Degree or HND in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent experience)

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of power systems, switchgear, or monitoring solutions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong presentation and customer engagement ability
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Commercial awareness with a proactive approach to problem solving
