Description and requirements

We are currently looking for a Senior Project Surveyor to join our Building Team based in central London to work during tender, design and construction phases on commercial development projects typically in value between £100 and £300 million.

You will play a key role in procurement, cost control and the effective financial management of large construction projects. You will support project teams on commercial matters, manage contractual obligations and, where required, take on team management responsibilities, while ensuring all activities are carried out in line with Skanska's policies, Integrated Management System procedures and governance guidelines.

As the Senior Project Surveyor, you will:

  • Manage project costs and provide regular, accurate financial reporting.
  • Understand contractual requirements, roles, responsibilities and change control notices, ensuring all notices are issued on time.
  • Support risk and opportunity management with the operations team.
  • Prepare subcontract documentation, issue enquiries and negotiate agreements, including interim and final accounts.
  • Participate in managing the Design Change Management philosophy in accordance with the Project Strategy to include, design change, scope variation, instruction and programme change
  • Contribute to end-life forecasting, monthly cost/value reconciliations, change management, and risk and opportunity procedures in line with internal processes.

We are looking for:

  • Proven experience delivering medium to large construction projects, including schemes valued between £100 and £300 million.
  • Strong track record of managing multiple subcontract packages, typically ranging from £1 to £50 million.
  • Experience on London commercial office projects, from PCSA through to construction delivery, achieving completion on time and within budget.
  • Good working knowledge of standard construction contracts, including JCT and NEC.
  • Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
  • Ideally professionally qualified, or working towards ICES or RICS accreditation.
  • Self-motivated, commercially aware and financially astute, with strong communication skills.
  • Confident using financial reporting systems, such as Oracle.
