Location: Epsom (Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 days remote)

Salary: £30,000 + Benefits

We are working with a well-established and fast-paced organisation looking to appoint a Credit Controller to join their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with existing credit control experience who enjoys building relationships, managing their own ledger, and driving cash collection performance.

The Role

You will take responsibility for managing a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debt while minimizing risk and maintaining strong customer relationships.

This is a varied role where you will be at the heart of the business, working closely with both internal teams and external clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively chase outstanding payments via phone, email, and other channels
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all customer interactions
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Monitor credit limits and ensure they remain appropriate
  • Manage and review credit-stopped orders, taking necessary action
  • Identify changes in customer payment behaviour and escalate risks
  • Log and resolve customer queries in a timely manner
  • Process new account applications and support credit decision-making
  • Support with ad hoc finance and credit control projects

About You

  • Minimum 1 year’s experience in Credit Control or similar finance role
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with customers
  • Confident working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail
  • Proactive and positive, with a “can-do” attitude
  • Comfortable managing your own workload and prioritising effectively
  • Strong team player who thrives under pressure

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Good level of numeracy and literacy (GCSE Maths & English or equivalent)
  • Intermediate Excel skills (including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables)
  • Previous experience within an accounts or credit control environment
  • Strong customer service focus

Desirable:

  • Experience with credit control systems or ERP platforms
  • Exposure to credit checking tools and risk assessment processes
  • Professional credit qualifications or willingness to study (e.g., CICM)
