Pay and Reward Manager

The City of London Corporation is seeking an experienced Pay and Reward Manager to join its HR function during a critical and busy period. This is an excellent interim opportunity for a reward professional with strong public sector experience to support the delivery of key pay and reward programmes while also overseeing essential business-as-usual activities.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders, providing expert reward support and helping to drive forward several high-priority initiatives, including market pay reviews and job evaluation activity.

Duration: 3-month contract with possibility of further extension

Pay: £38 per hour via PAYE or £49.88 per hour via Umbrella

Location: Guildhall (closest station is Bank station)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support urgent reward programme delivery, including Market Pay Reviews
  • Undertake Job Evaluation and Job Matching, ideally using Korn Ferry / Hay methodology
  • Support implementation activities arising from job evaluation outcomes
  • Progress wider reward-related projects and workstreams, working independently to deliver outputs
  • Contribute to business-as-usual reward activities, including:
    • Supporting annual pay award processes
    • Benefits review and procurement activity
    • Producing high-quality papers and reports for senior boards and governance forums
  • Provide analytical insight through clear data interpretation, reporting and written recommendations
  • Act as a trusted reward advisor within the organisation during a period of change

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in pay and reward management, ideally within the public sector
  • Local Government experience highly desirable
  • Strong working knowledge of Job Evaluation frameworks, preferably Korn Ferry / Hay
  • Ability to work autonomously, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent analytical, reporting and written communication skills
  • Confident engaging with senior stakeholders and navigating complex organisational structures
