You will be joining a highly respected, established family business operating across the East of England and the Midlands. Ideal Background & Sector Experience

To succeed in this role, we are looking for a finance leader who brings a sophisticated blend of corporate discipline and entrepreneurial agility. We are particularly interested in hearing from professionals with the following background traits:

  • Sector Relevance: Prior leadership experience within asset-heavy, logistically diverse, or multi-site sectors—such as industrial machinery, distribution, logistics, large-scale agriculture, or construction.
  • Corporate & Commercial Maturity: A proven track record of managing robust financial governance frameworks, alongside a sharp commercial eye for identifying market opportunities and executing M&A pipelines.
  • Scale & Environment: Experience operating effectively within high-revenue family-owned businesses, private equity-backed enterprises, or corporate groups undergoing strategic modernization and digital systems transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Shape and lead long-term financial and commercial strategies to drive sustainable growth, profitability, and multi-year value creation.
  • Board Partnership: Translate complex operational financial data into forward-looking analysis, constructive challenge, and clear executive recommendations to the Board.
  • M&A and Capital Allocation: Manage the corporate development pipeline, taking ownership of business-wide scenario modelling, mergers, acquisitions, due diligence, and post-deal business integration.
  • Transformation & Governance: Champion modern finance systems, process innovation, and robust operational governance; fulfil the duties of Company Secretary to ensure full statutory compliance.

The Ideal Profile

  • Qualifications: Fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA), with a preference for an ACA background.
  • Experience: Proven track record operating confidently at Board level as an active CFO or senior Finance Director.
  • Capability: Solid corporate finance credentials, including direct exposure to lead-managing business acquisitions and delivering value through systems/cultural transformation.
  • Leadership Style: An authentic leader with strong emotional intelligence, capable of inspiring diverse finance teams and building deep cross-functional respect.
