Job Title – Design Manager

Their Purpose – A leading renewable energy engineering provider specialising in the design and delivery of Solar PV, Heat Pumps, Solar Thermal, CHP, Wind and Energy Storage systems. They support domestic, commercial and public-sector clients with high-quality, technically robust low-carbon solutions that reduce emissions, improve efficiency and support long-term sustainability goals.

Salary & Benefits – £45,000 - £50,000 DOE

About the Job:

This is a senior leadership role for an experienced Design Manager who can oversee a multidisciplinary engineering design function while also contributing directly to complex renewable energy projects. You will manage the full design lifecycle, from initial technical surveys and concept development through to detailed engineering, project planning, quality assurance and customer handover.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading, managing and developing the Design Team to deliver high-quality engineering outputs
• Overseeing technical sales surveys and supporting early-stage customer engagement • Producing system drawings, schematics, performance calculations and technical documentation
• Developing concept designs, quotations and detailed post-contract engineering packages
• Providing quality control and assurance across all design outputs and installation specifications
• Creating project schedules, plans, procurement lists and cost-tracking documentation • Producing method statements, risk assessments and compliance reports
• Coordinating planning applications, grid connection approvals and other third-party permissions

About you:

• Proven experience leading technical or engineering design teams
• Background in commercial renewable energy or electrical installations
• Strong capability with design and analysis tools (CAD, PVSyst, SketchUp, BIM, etc.)
