Are you an experienced English Teacher, SEMH Teacher, or SEND Teacher looking for a rewarding role where you can truly change lives?

We are recruiting for a passionate and resilient SEMH English Teacher to join a specialist Alternative Provision / SEND school supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, challenging behaviour, trauma backgrounds, and additional learning needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for teachers from mainstream secondary, PRU=, or special education settings who are committed to inclusive education and behaviour support.

About the Role – SEMH English Teacher / Behaviour Specialist Teacher

As an SEMH English Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons (KS3 & KS4) with a focus on GCSE English, Functional Skills, and Literacy Intervention
  • Adapt teaching for students with SEMH needs, ADHD, ASD, trauma, and attachment difficulties
  • Use behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques to support learning
  • Implement differentiated teaching, personalised learning plans, and EHCP targets
  • Support students with emotional regulation, engagement, and confidence building
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, Behaviour Mentors, SENCOs, Therapists, and Pastoral Teams
  • Track progress using data-driven assessment and adapt planning accordingly
  • Create a positive, structured, and nurturing learning environment

Candidate Profile – SEMH Teacher / SEND English Teacher

We welcome applicants with experience in:

SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) settings

Special Educational Needs (SEN/SEND) education

Alternative Provision (AP) / PRU / Behaviour Schools

Students with challenging behaviour, trauma, or complex needs

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS / PGCE / CertEd)
  • Experience teaching English Language / Literature at secondary level
  • Strong behaviour management and classroom control skills
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches
  • Ability to build positive relationships and re-engage disengaged learners

Desirable:

  • Experience with autism (ASD), ADHD, and speech & communication needs
  • Background in intervention, nurture groups, or pastoral support
  • Team Teach, MAPA, or behaviour training (or willingness to train
