Management Accountant

Ely, Cambridgeshire

£40,000 – £45,000 per annum

We are working with a successful, established business in Ely, currently seeking an experienced, commercially minded Management Accountant to work closely with the Head of Finance and play a key role in the financial management of the business.

This is a hands-on role within a small finance team, offering broad exposure across operations and the opportunity to influence commercial decision-making.

The Role

You will be responsible for the preparation, reporting, and analysis of key financial information, with occasional involvement in transactional tasks to support the wider team.

Key responsibilities include:

• Production of weekly sales and margin reports, highlighting work not meeting minimum profit levels
• Preparation of monthly management accounts, including control account reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments
• Monthly reporting of results and variances, with feedback to budget holders
• Analysis of estimated job costs versus actual costs, including investigation of overrunning jobs
• Providing analysis and feedback on job profitability
• Stock valuation, including setting and updating standard costs, identifying slow-moving stock, reporting overruns, and supporting rolling stock-takes
• Sales statistics and performance reporting
• Processing and reconciliation of VAT returns
• Posting salary journals
• Supporting purchase ledger and sales ledger cover when required
• Bank reconciliations
• Audit preparation and support
• Fixed asset management
• Statistical and Government reporting

About You

• Previous management accounting experience
• Commercially aware with strong analytical skills
• Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
• A proactive team player with strong attention to detail
