A1 Personnel Employment Agency Ltd

Yard Team Lead Operative

Full-Time | Monday to Friday | 7:00am – 4:00pm

Salary: £28,000+ | £5,000 Discretionary Annual Bonus

Lead Operations. Drive Standards. Make an Impact.

Are you a hands-on leader who thrives in a busy operational environment? Do you take pride in running an organised, safe, and high-performing yard while motivating others to deliver their best?

We are looking for a proactive and driven Yard Team Lead Operative to take ownership of our yard and warehouse operations. This is more than a supervisory role — it is an opportunity to become a key part of the operation, ensuring productivity, safety, and efficiency remain at the heart of everything we do.

You will lead from the front, coordinating daily activity, maintaining operational standards, supporting machinery upkeep, and helping a small team perform at its best. If you enjoy problem-solving, taking responsibility, and making a visible difference every day, this role offers genuine opportunity and variety.

The Role

As Yard Team Lead Operative, you will oversee the day-to-day running of the yard and warehouse, ensuring smooth operations and consistently high standards across safety, housekeeping, stock control, and productivity.

No two days are the same. One moment you may be coordinating workflow and supporting the team, the next you could be monitoring stock levels, troubleshooting machinery, or ensuring operational areas remain safe, organised, and efficient.

This is a role for someone who enjoys taking ownership, staying hands-on, and helping create an environment where standards matter and teamwork drives success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily yard and warehouse activities to ensure smooth, efficient operations
  • Take ownership of designated yard areas, maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, organisation, and safety
  • Carry out and oversee routine maintenance and fault-finding on recycling machinery, including scheduled blade changes
  • Monitor and manage resin stock levels to support uninterrupted operational output
  • Lead by example, promoting a culture of accountability, housekeeping, and operational excellence
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety procedures and regulations
  • Support, guide, and coordinate yard operatives to ensure work is completed effectively, safely, and on time
About You

You are dependable, motivated, and naturally organised, with the confidence to take responsibility and support a team in achieving results. You enjoy working in a practical environment, solving problems, and keeping operations running smoothly.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience within a yard, warehouse, production, or similar operational environment
  • Experience in a Team Leader, Supervisory, Senior Operative, or similar leadership role
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills for stock management, reporting, and documentation
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to work proactively
Desirable
  • Forklift licence (training can be provided if required)
  • Mechanical awareness or experience maintaining machinery
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary of £28,000+
  • £5,000 discretionary annual bonus
  • Stable, full-time role with consistent weekday hours
  • The opportunity to take ownership and play a key role within operations
  • Supportive working environment with opportunities for development and progression
  • Training and development where required
Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm

Flexibility may be required for occasional earlier starts or later finishes depending on operational needs.
