Site Services Engineer

About the Role
We are working with a well-established engineering services provider with a strong UK presence and a blue-chip customer base across multiple industrial sectors. The business specialises in optimising asset performance, including motors, gearboxes, pumps, machining, induction, condition monitoring, and fabrication services.
As a Site Services Engineer, you will play a key role in the removal, installation, dismantling, rebuild, and refurbishment of plant and equipment within the Water and Industrial sectors. This includes working on pumps, gearboxes, motors, generators, and similar rotating equipment.
You will also be responsible for completing all onsite inspection and assembly documentation while ensuring compliance with company procedures, policies, and work instructions.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all company, site, and client health & safety procedures, promoting a strong safety culture at all times
- Maintain a clean, organised, and controlled working environment
- Work in line with agreed Method Statements and Work Instructions
- Carry out root cause analysis and fault finding on electro-mechanical equipment
- Produce detailed reports outlining findings, causes, and recommended corrective actions
- Perform on-site maintenance, repairs, and refurbishment where required
- Dismantle and remove rotating and mechanical equipment for repair
- Rebuild, repair, test, and commission equipment both in workshop and onsite
- Reinstall equipment and carry out field testing and commissioning
- Conduct planned service and maintenance visits
- Respond to breakdowns as required
- Support workshop-based activities when needed
Key Skills & Qualifications
Essential
- Mechanical apprenticeship (time-served) with ONC, HNC, NVQ or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar field-based role
- Flexible approach to working hours
- Basic understanding of health & safety practices in industrial environments
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Experience within the water industry or process plants
- Knowledge of heavy industries (e.g. steel, paper, power)
- Confined space certification
- ATEX experience
- Overhead crane or lifting equipment licences
- Forklift (counterbalance) licence
- Lifting & slinging qualification
- Water hygiene certification
- Relevant site safety passports (e.g. CSCS, CCNSG, Thames Water Passport)
- Multi-skilled (electro-mechanical) capability
Technical Competencies
- Strong understanding of engineering principles
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and parts lists
- Solid mechanical repair and fault-finding skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to liaise with subcontractors and coordinate site services (e.g. cranes, scaffolding)
- Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Capable of working independently or as part of a team
- Willingness to undertake further training and development
