HGV Class 1 Driver – Solihull (West Midlands)

People Solutions are currently recruiting for a HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Solihull, West Midlands, on a full-time basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity offering excellent rates of pay, ongoing work, and the potential to secure a permanent role with a well-known household brand.

This role would suit candidates with previous experience as a HGV Class 1 Driver, LGV Class 1 Driver, CE Driver, or Articulated Lorry Driver.

Shifts

• Monday to Friday
• Start times between 03:00 – 06:00
• Early finishes depending on route completion
• Weekend overtime available (optional)

Rates of Pay

• Monday to Friday: £17.00 per hour
• Saturday: £18.00 per hour
• Sunday: £19.00 per hour

Day-to-Day Duties

As a HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties will include (but not be limited to):

• Driving and operating Category CE (Class 1) vehicles safely and efficiently
• Completing deliveries to regional distribution centres and customers
• Carrying out pre- and post-vehicle checks
• Ensuring loads are secured safely and comply with regulations
• Completing delivery paperwork accurately
• Communicating professionally with the transport team and customers
• Adhering to all road transport and health & safety legislation
• Assisting with loading and unloading where required

Essential Skills

To be successful as a HGV Class 1 Driver, you will need:

• A valid UK Category CE (Class 1) driving licence
• A minimum of 12 months’ Class 1 driving experience
• A valid CPC card and Digital Tachograph card
• No more than 6 penalty points (no major endorsements)
• A good level of spoken and written English
• A reliable, punctual, and professional approach
• Good knowledge of driving laws and regulations
• Strong communication skills

Desirable (but Not Essential)

• Experience with curtain-sider, box, or trunking work
• Previous experience within retail or distribution environments

Training Provided

• Full paid induction and ongoing support throughout your assignment
