This is a unique opportunity to take on a broad and evolving position within the outwards reinsurance function, combining placement, oversight and operational leadership.

Initially, the role will focus on managing an outsourced reinsurance arrangement, ensuring effective governance, performance oversight and delivery across all post-placement activity. Over time, the role will play a key part in building and transitioning towards an in-house reinsurance capability, including helping to define processes, infrastructure and team structure.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders across underwriting, operations and leadership, contributing to the ongoing development of the reinsurance strategy while ensuring robust execution and control.

Key accountabilities

• Oversee and manage the outsourced reinsurance , ensuring strong governance and delivery
• Act as a key point of contact for reinsurance partners, brokers and internal stakeholders
• Support the execution of reinsurance placements, working in line with strategic direction
• Lead the post-placement oversight, including KPIs, SLAs and operational performance
• Contribute to the development of reinsurance strategy and programme structure
• Play a central role in building internal reinsurance capability, including processes, systems and future team design
• Work cross-functionally with underwriting, finance and operations to ensure alignment and efficiency
• Support the implementation and development of systems and infrastructure for reinsurance management

Skills & experience

• Strong experience in outwards / ceded reinsurance, ideally within the London Market
• Proven exposure to both:
  • Reinsurance placement (buying side)
  • Operational / oversight / governance processes

• Understanding of end-to-end reinsurance processes, including post-placement activity
• Ability to operate in a broad, evolving role with both strategic and hands-on elements
• Experience in building, improving or transforming processes or functions is highly desirable
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across senior teams
• Commercial awareness, with an understanding of how reinsurance supports portfolio construction and risk management
