Practice Accountant

Lancaster | Hybrid (3 days office / 2 from home)

Salary up to £45,000 + onsite parking

I’m working with a well-established accountancy firm in Lancaster that supports a wide range of clients across the local area. They’ve built a strong reputation for offering a high-quality, personal service across accounts, tax, payroll and bookkeeping.

They’re now looking to bring in an experienced Practice Accountant to manage a portfolio of clients and be a key part of the team.

The role:

This is a hands-on role where you’ll take ownership of your own client portfolio, supporting them across a mix of accounts and tax work. Day to day, this will include:

• Preparing and reviewing year-end accounts
• Completing self-assessment tax returns
• Managing corporation tax work
• Acting as the main point of contact for clients, answering queries and offering advice
• Attending client meetings (both virtual and face-to-face)
• Supporting with HMRC audits and investigations
• Handling more complex client queries
• Supporting junior team members and helping manage workloads

It’s a varied role where no two days will look the same, and you’ll be trusted to build strong relationships with your clients.

What I’m looking for:

• ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
• Strong experience in practice, managing your own portfolio
• Good all-round accounting and tax knowledge (income tax, corporation tax, VAT and PAYE)
• Experience using cloud-based accounting software
• A confident communicator who enjoys working with clients
• Organised, with the ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload
• Someone who’s happy to support and guide more junior team members

Nice to have:

• Experience with Iris
• Knowledge of capital gains tax and inheritance tax
• Previous experience managing or mentoring a team
