Interim Senior Accountant – Children’s Services

Location: London (Hybrid) Rate: Circa £500 per day (Inside IR35)

A local authority in London is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support its Children’s Services finance team. This role will focus on financial reporting, budget monitoring and supporting service areas through a period of financial pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead on monthly budget monitoring and reporting for Children’s Services
• Support quarterly forecasting and financial planning
• Assist with the production of year-end accounts and statutory returns
• Respond to audit queries and provide supporting documentation
• Work closely with service managers to provide financial insight and challenge

Requirements:

• Proven experience working within local government finance (essential)
• Strong background in Children’s Services finance (essential)
• Experience with budget monitoring, forecasting and reporting Confident stakeholder engagement skills Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
