Housing Officer - Supported Housing

Mosscare St Vincents Housing (MSV Housing)

At MSV Housing we’re committed to making sure our customers have safe, high-quality homes, and our Housing Officers are key to making this happen.

Working closely with the Supported Housing Manager, you will deliver an effective and compliant housing management service for customers in supported housing. You will oversee managing agents and support providers to maximise income, ensure safeguarding, and maintain high standards of regulatory compliance, escalating issues where required. You will also promote MSV’s digital services to improve customer access and engagement.

In addition, we are looking for candidates with a genuine passion for advocating on behalf of people and communities.

What do our Supported Housing Officers do;

  • Work with local authorities and referral agencies to manage nominations and lettings, ensuring properties are let quickly and voids are minimised while new tenants are fully supported with their rights and responsibilities.
  • Proactively manage rent collection and arrears in line with Group policy, working closely with managing agents and internal teams to maximise income and sustain tenancies.
  • Monitor managing agents and supported housing schemes through regular visits, ensuring effective service delivery, compliance, and prompt resolution of issues impacting occupancy or income.
  • Liaise with technical, compliance and asset teams to ensure timely repairs and maintenance, supporting faster re-lets and positive tenant engagement.
  • Build strong landlord–tenant relationships by promoting compliance, appropriate tenure arrangements and up-to-date health and safety standards across all schemes.

What we are looking for;

  • A good standard of education, including 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above, with Maths and English.
  • Experience working in supported housing or housing management specifically when dealing with voids and arrers, and confidence working with external agencies.
  • Knowledge of housing benefit/Universal Credit and strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of the needs of vulnerable tenants, and the ability to manage landlord/tenant and support-provider relationships.
  • Strong customer-service skills, including clear communication, effective listening, empathy, respect and accountability.
  • Ability to manage a busy workload, meet deadlines, and remain resilient under pressure.
  • Positive, flexible, creative and reflective approach, with a commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel across the Northwest

We're committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all colleagues to share this commitment. As this job is based in a supported housing project for vulnerable adults, an enhanced criminal records background check (free of charge to you) is required. A criminal conviction does not necessarily stop you from working with us. All decisions regarding convictions will be made on a case-by-case basis. Further detail on our commitment to safeguarding young people can be found in our Safeguarding policy attached alongside this vacancy’s candidate pack.

We offer a range of great benefits including:

  • Essential car user allowance to support you with car running costs
  • Flexibility on where you work with home working kit provided
  • 33 days holiday per year plus bank holidays, and a holiday a buy scheme.
  • Company pension scheme with up to 10% matched contributions
  • Company funded access to a health cash plan, where you can claim back costs of everyday health treatments such as optical, dental and much more.
  • Enhanced sick pay with up to 3 months full pay and 3 months half pay
  • Health and Wellbeing Support including an employee assistance programme, free counselling, mental health first aiders and numerous wellbeing initiatives
