HSBC are currently searching for a Head of Audit Methodology to join their team in London who shall be a key role within the Global Internal Audit (GBL INA) Global Professional Practices organisation, reporting into the Head of Global Professional Practices.

Key Accountabilities

  1. The role holder will manage the process used to identify, develop and maintain the global audit policy
  2. Guide and coach audit staff on application of audit policy
  3. Oversee the global audit universe
  4. Review and present proposals with peers and executive and senior management, and to make appropriate recommendations
  5. Responsible for leading Global Professional Practices activities, providing independent objective review, evaluation and improvement of the effectiveness of GBL INA. Such activity consists of GBL INA methodology, policies and standards, quality assurance, regulatory interaction and continuous improvement, as well as other functional strategic initiatives
  6. Required to interact, on a frequent basis, with the various regulators and interface at senior levels within GBL INA, with other stakeholders and peers, internally and externally
  7. Help to identify training initiatives relating to audit processes and audit capability and skills development

Management Risk

  1. Ensure employees apply compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues.

Observation of Internal Controls

  1. Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators

Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

  1. Proven and progressive audit practices, business audit, and/or accounting experience or equivalent.
  2. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, related field or equivalent experience; professional certification (CPA, CA, or CIA) preferred.
  3. Strong managerial, communications, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, lateral thinking and interpersonal skills.
  4. Extensive knowledge of the Company, Group and financial services industry, businesses supported and the regulatory framework they operate in.
  5. In depth understanding of the business, risks and related controls within areas of responsibility.
