St. Philip Evans Catholic Primary School is a Voluntary Aided Primary School in Cardiff. The school provides education for pupils aged three to eleven. There are 362 pupils aged three to eleven currently on roll, including 38 nursery pupils.

Due to the retirement of our highly respected and successful Headteacher, the Governors of St. Philip Evans School wish to appoint a dynamic and inspirational leader who, as a practising Catholic, will continue to raise aspirations and ensure consistently outstanding learning opportunities and experiences for all pupils, which was recognised in the school’s outstanding Estyn report in September 2019 in which all five inspection areas were judged "Excellent" and which stated:

"St Philip Evans is a highly successful and nurturing school. ... Leadership at the school is very strong.

Leaders at all levels know staff and pupils well and work successfully to create a harmonious, nurturing learning environment.

They create a culture of continuous improvement that values and supports all staff beneficially. The governing body supports them ably."

All at St. Philip Evans Catholic Primary School understand and embrace the Catholic identity and mission of their school, living out the school mission statement; We live the Gospel message as we worship, learn and play’ the school is a welcoming, inclusive Christ-centred learning community. The recent outstanding CSI inspection/Section 50 report (Catholic Schools Inspectorate 07-08 December 2023) stated that;

“Leaders at all levels, including governors, continue to be highly ambitious and provide excellent opportunities for all pupils, staff and the wider community at this school. This ensures that all pupils are provided with opportunities to live the mission to ‘worship and learn and play’. All members of staff share in the ethos of the school and have common goals for success.”

“The dedicated headteacher and her staff are inspirational models of exemplary practice to pupils as participants in and leaders of prayer, resulting in the provision of very high quality worship.”

“The experience of being part of a faithful, and prayerful community has a profound and visible effect on the spiritual and moral development of all pupils at St Philip Evans.”

“Pupil behaviour is exemplary. Pupils are religiously literate and show enjoyment and confidence in religious education.”
