Criminology Graduate - Learning Support Assistant - Mental Health & Trauma Support

Are you a Criminology Graduate looking to start your career in mental health, education, youth justice, or clinical support? Do you want hands-on experience supporting vulnerable children?

A specialist school in Reading is seeking a passionate and resilient graduate to join their team as a Learning Support Assistant, either immediately or in September. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical, real-world experience supporting children with complex social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who may have experienced childhood trauma, anxiety and depression, low self-esteem, attachment difficulties and social, emotional and behavioural challenges. You will act as a positive role model, mentor and emotional support for students throughout the day, helping them regulate their emotions, build resilience, and engaging in learning.

As a Criminology Graduate, you will use your understanding of behaviour, trauma, and risk factors to help identify triggers, support emotional regulation, and learn effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate to gain experience, and build a career in Educational Psychology, Mental Health, Youth Offending, Probation Services or Criminal Justice. Previous experience working with children would be beneficial but not essential.
