Salary: £168-£232 per day (dependent on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm

Overview

We are working with a well-established and forward-thinking secondary school seeking to appoint a Food Technology Teacher to join their Design & Technology department.

The school prides itself on delivering a practical, engaging curriculum that equips students with valuable life skills, creativity, and an understanding of nutrition and food preparation.

The Role

You will teach Food Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to contribute to a wider Design & Technology curriculum. The role will involve both theoretical and practical teaching, ensuring students develop confidence in cooking, food safety, and healthy living.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Teach practical cooking skills alongside theory, including nutrition and food safety
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adapting lessons to meet individual needs
  • Prepare students for GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition (if applicable)
  • Maintain a safe and well-organised kitchen/classroom environment
  • Contribute to departmental planning and enrichment opportunities
Candidate Profile

We are seeking a teacher who:

  • Holds QTS (or equivalent teaching qualification)
  • Has experience teaching Food Technology or Design & Technology at secondary level
  • Demonstrates strong subject knowledge, including nutrition and food safety
  • Is confident managing practical classroom environments
  • Has excellent organisation and classroom management skills
  • Is passionate about inspiring students through practical learning
Requirements

Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
Two professional references relating to working with children
