I am currently partnered with a leading Motor Insurer who are seeking a Senior Underwriter to join their growing team.

This role will be Underwriting a range of Motor Innovation products including; connected device vehicles, autonomous vehicles, embedded insurance and on-demand/short term insurance to meet temporary needs.

My client is looking for someone with technical Motor experience, from an Underwriting or Broking view, ideally within telematics or other Motor Innovation related products.


Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the development and execution of underwriting strategy across designated product lines, leveraging market insight and technical expertise while working closely with cross-functional delivery teams.
  • Contributing to portfolio performance management through detailed analysis of results, implementation of underwriting and pricing strategies, and recommendations that drive continuous improvement and achievement of financial objectives.
  • Supporting and mentoring Product Performance Analysts, helping to develop technical capability and ensuring analytical insight is effectively used to support strategic goals.
  • Continuously refining underwriting appetite and risk selection criteria to capitalise on market opportunities, optimise business mix, and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Acting as a senior technical referral point for underwriting teams, brokers, and internal stakeholders, applying strong risk, product, and pricing knowledge to support sound underwriting decisions.
  • Providing feedback to product, portfolio, and pricing teams on the effectiveness of pricing models and underwriting performance to enhance pricing sophistication, accuracy, and profitability.
  • Collaborating closely with multiple business functions to ensure delivery of clear, competitive, and seamless propositions to the market.
  • Maintaining awareness of the evolving risk landscape and contributing to the identification, assessment, and mitigation of key business risks.
  • Supporting first-line governance and control activities through audit processes, peer reviews, exception reporting, and performance MI to ensure underwriting activity aligns with delegated authority, operational standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Building and strengthening relationships with key broker and partner networks, ensuring a strong understanding of partner and customer needs.
  • Ensuring all activity is conducted in line with legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements, while maintaining high ethical and professional standards at all times.
