Accounts Senior / Senior Accountant (Practice) – Accounts & Tax | ACCA / ACA / AAT / QBE

A growing accountancy practice in Sutton Coldfield is seeking an experienced Accounts Senior / Practice Accountant to join its team. This role is ideal for an ACCA or AAT qualified accountant (or QBE with strong practice experience) who is confident delivering accounts preparation and tax work for a varied client portfolio.

You will be responsible for managing your own clients, delivering high-quality year-end accounts and tax returns, and supporting a collaborative team in a modern, cloud-based practice environment.


Role Overview

This is a hands-on Accounts Senior / Accountant role in practice, where you will take ownership of a portfolio of clients and deliver accurate, timely financial reporting.

You will work across accounts preparation, corporation tax, personal tax, VAT, and management reporting, using cloud accounting tools such as Xero.

This is a role that combines technical compliance work with increasing client responsibility and progression opportunities.


Key Responsibilities:

Prepare year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders

Complete corporation tax and personal tax returns

Support VAT returns and bookkeeping as required

Manage your own client portfolio and act as key point of contact

Work closely with senior managers to meet deadlines and workflow targets

Review and support junior team members where appropriate

Assist with management accounts

Use cloud accounting systems (e.g. Xero) to streamline delivery


Candidate Requirements:

Essential:
  • Experience working in an accountancy practice environment
  • ACCA / ACA / AAT qualified OR QBE with strong proven experience
  • Strong technical ability in accounts preparation and tax compliance
  • Ability to manage your own workload and take ownership of client work
  • Experience using cloud accounting software (Xero preferred)
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Desirable:
  • Experience reviewing or supporting junior team members
  • Exposure to management reporting or advisory work
