Robert Half are recruiting for an experienced Interim Payroll Manager to join a well-established organisation based in West Wiltshire. This is a hands-on interim assignment, working 37.5 hours per week, supporting a large and complex payroll function.

The role

You will take full responsibility for the accurate and timely delivery of monthly payroll for a workforce of 1,000+ employees, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and strong stakeholder communication throughout.

Key responsibilities
  • Process and validate monthly payroll for 1,000+ employees across multiple contract types
  • Identify, review, and validate payroll output reports with extensive data checking to ensure accuracy
  • Manage all aspects of the company pension scheme, including auto-enrolment and maintaining up-to-date scheme information
  • Liaise with actuaries, Pension Scheme Trustees, and third-party stakeholders
  • Keep up to date with legislative changes and new payroll initiatives
  • Maintain and enhance payroll reporting, including overtime analysis and payroll reconciliations
About you
  • Proven experience managing payroll in a large, complex environment
  • Strong working knowledge of UK payroll legislation and pensions
  • Highly detail-oriented with a rigorous approach to data validation
  • Confident liaising with senior stakeholders and external parties
  • Able to work onsite 4 days per week
