About the Role
Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Planning Engineer to join our client's successful team based in Dungeness, Kent.
This role offers the opportunity to support a major EDF Project Controls Resource Framework, contributing to the defueling and decommissioning of an AGR nuclear power station. The successful candidate will play a key role in programme development, project reporting, and stakeholder engagement within a highly regulated environment.
As a Planning Engineer, you will work closely with project stakeholders to develop, maintain, and manage project programmes, ensuring accurate updates and reporting both internally and externally.
Please note: Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance. Therefore, applicants must have lived in the UK continuously for the past 3 years.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop breakdown structures, quality criteria, product descriptions, and monitoring strategies.
- Gather, record, and validate project assumptions to ensure plans are realistic and achievable.
- Work closely with the Project Controls team to maintain alignment between financial forecasting and project plans.
- Support Project Managers in identifying opportunities to optimise delivery through resource smoothing, levelling, and activity rescheduling.
- Identify wider resource requirements to support successful project delivery.
- Ensure stakeholder requirements are fully understood and reflected within reporting arrangements.
- Provide guidance on planning processes throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Support continuous improvement, capability development, and best practice in planning and reporting.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience using Primavera P6.
- Experience developing cost and resource-loaded project plans.
- Understanding and practical application of Earned Value Analysis (EVA) reporting.
- Proactive approach with the confidence to challenge teams and identify programme efficiencies and mitigation strategies.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
- Understanding of estimating, scheduling, programming, and risk management tools.
- Previous experience within Project Controls and/or Project Delivery, ideally within a highly regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of critical path analysis.
Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in Mathematics.
Desirable
- HNC/HND, degree qualification, or equivalent experience in a planning-related discipline.
- APMG Project Planning & Control Practitioner qualification (or equivalent).
- PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) certification.
