We are seeking a dedicated Care Assistant to join our team. This role is crucial in helping service users maintain their independence, dignity, and individuality. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with daily activities, providing emotional support, and ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Accountable to all members of the Management Team or senior staff during the working shift.
  • Support service users in maintaining or regaining their independence by assisting with physical needs such as washing, bathing, dressing, and mobility.
  • Understand and cater to the emotional needs of older people, ensuring clear communication and attentive care.
  • Engage in recreational and stimulating activities with service users when appropriate.
  • Maintain the care environment, including some domestic tasks as needed.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including fire safety, and respond effectively in emergencies.
  • Communicate the needs of service users to management and maintain positive relations among service users, staff, and visitors.
  • Participate in service user reviews, staff meetings, and decision-making processes.
  • Escort service users on outings and assist with transportation to and from the unit.
  • Act as a key worker for some service users, helping to prepare and implement care plans.
  • For night shifts, perform timed checks based on individual needs and preferences.
  • Utilize information and communication technology to provide efficient services and maintain accurate records.
  • Participate in supervision, appraisal, development, and training sessions as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of First Aid and safe Manual Handling techniques.
  • Ability to read, record information, and communicate clearly.
  • Capable of providing both physical and emotional support to residents.
  • Ability to work effectively both as a team member and individually.
  • Physical capacity to undertake the role.
  • Experience working with older people and understanding their complex care needs.
  • Experience in providing personal care.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Social Care is desirable.
