  • Pay Rate: £14.58 - £16.07 per hour (depending on experience)

  • Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (3 - 4 months)

Bolton Council are looking for a skilled Theatre and Venue Technician to join our dynamic team at The Albert Halls Bolton, a distinctive venue set within the historic Bolton Town Hall. This role offers the opportunity to work in a vibrant and historic space, supporting a wide range of events from theatre productions to community gatherings.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide technical support to the Albert Halls Complex and Victoria Square for various events, including room hires and theatre performances.
  • Act as the first point of contact for 'get ins' and 'get outs' for shows, working closely with artists, touring crews, and production teams to ensure all technical and logistical requirements are met.
  • Assist with the movement, rigging, and installation of technical equipment, adhering to Health and Safety regulations and standard theatre practices.
  • Maintain all technical equipment, including sound and lighting systems, ensuring they are in good working order and safely stored.
  • Operate sound (Allen and Heath), lighting (ETC & Zero88), and stage equipment to a high standard.
  • Support and supervise event staff, visiting technicians, and touring crews, ensuring safe and effective use of all technical equipment.
  • Assist in setting up and dismantling equipment for various events within the Albert Halls Complex and external sites.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of technical assets and ensure all equipment manuals and technical specifications are up-to-date.
  • Deputise for the Senior Technician as required, supporting the smooth running of technical operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Theatre and Venue Technician, particularly in a live theatre environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of theatrical systems and practices, including sound (Allen and Heath) and lighting (ETC & Zero88).
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining high safety standards in line with current Health and Safety regulations.
  • Ability to handle heavy equipment and work at heights.
