Field Service Engineer – Heavy Plant & Construction Equipment
Location: Covering Manchester, Stoke-on-Trent, Leeds, and surrounding areas (Field based with fully equipped service van).
Salary & Benefits:
£19.50 per hour basic salary
Door-to-door pay
Overtime paid at enhanced rates:
Time and a half weekdays and Saturdays
Double time Sundays

The Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join a rapidly growing OEM manufacturer within the heavy plant and construction equipment sector.
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a range of heavy plant and quarry equipment at customer sites across the region.
Equipment includes:
Excavators
Wheel loaders
Loading shovels
Heavy construction and quarry machinery
You will also support machine preparation and PDI activities while working closely with technical support and service control teams to ensure maximum machine uptime and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Service, maintain, and repair heavy plant and construction equipment
Carry out fault finding across mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, and electrical systems
Respond to breakdowns and complete planned maintenance work
Complete machine preparation and PDI work where required
Maintain high OEM service standards and accurate documentation
Support commissioning and servicing of battery-electric plant equipment
Work independently across customer sites while delivering excellent customer service
Ensure all work is completed safely and professionally
Candidate Requirements:
NVQ Level 3 in Plant, Mechanical, Agricultural, HGV, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
Experience working within an OEM or manufacturer-led environment
Background in heavy plant, quarry, construction, earthmoving, or related equipment
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities
Good understanding of hydraulics, diesel engines, and electrical systems
Stable work history demonstrating commitment and reliability
Full UK driving licence
Interest in modern plant technology and battery-electric equipment
Strong communication and customer-facing skills
Self-motivated and capable of managing a field-based role independently

Working Hours & Conditions:
Monday to Friday field-based role
Door-to-door travel paid
Regular overtime available
Occasional overnight stays may be required depending on customer needs
